How to save money?

How to save money is the question that we ask ourselves a lot and the obvious answer is don’t spend money but what if spending money is inevitable like for example for grocery shopping? Then I’ve got a few tips for you that actually work as I’ve tested them out myself. There are a lot of apps out there that say that will help you save money but which ones are actually genuine?

So my favourite is probably Shopmium because they have unusual products which I wouldn’t spend my money on but using this app gives me an opportunity to try new products for free or for try little money, furthermore when you sign up and use this code C5W6B you will receive a free chocolate! And underneath I’ve inserted screenshots to prove that its genuine and you do receive your money back.

The second grocery shopping app is good as well as has much more offers for all sorts of places like Tesco,Asda,Waitrose,Morrisons etc and you can filter through them so for example if you’re going shopping to Tesco you can only see offers from Tesco which is defiantly an advantage over the other app where you have to individually check where each offer is eligible. Also another difference between those apps is that on Shopmium you get paid straight into your account whether here you need build up a certain amount on your account not to have to pay an transfer fee.

So this app I haven’t actually used yet but it works the same as the grocery shopping ones  except this one you can use on most online shops and not only and then you receive a cashback when you do the purchase through their app! It all sounds pretty straight forward eh? All it takes is a bit of time and effort and you can save yourself some serious money as it doesn’t seem much at first but when it starts building up it will!

Most shops/food places have some sort of points system which collecting them probably can lead to many off/free things so it’s worth looking into them especially if you shop somewhere reguarly or if you are an O2 cutosmer there’s O2 priority app which offers money or or things for free to their customers!

Furthermore you can make some extra $$ buy selling things online and it doesn’t have to be eBay, as I personally don’t like selling on eBay. Look around your wardrobe to see if you have any old clothes to sell and if you do then download Vinted and start selling today. I know some people who’ve made hundreds of pounds on it so it all goes down to it if you want to make the time and effort to upload the items and then post them but if you do make sure to go through this link to recieve money to spend on Vinted!

Don’t forget to use my code C5W6B’ when downloading Shopmium!

Let’s talk: Acne and self-love

I’ve ‘suffered’ with acne ever since I remember and I’ve put suffered in quote marks because I feel bad for using it in this context as I know that there are people seriously suffering in the world but nevertheless I’ve experienced it first hand and I know how much impact it can have on your life and most of all on your confidence, and I wanna share with you guys my story of it to help people suffering realise that most people experienced it at some point in their lives and that it does get really better even when you don’t feel like it will.

It started when I hit puberty at the age of 13;sounds so cliche I know but at the time everyone was going through the same thing so it seemed normal to me and I didn’t make much of it plus when you’re 13 you’re not really self-concious about your looks yet it only hits you when people start pointing it out to you and you realise that it’s not the norm and it’s not considered as attractive. A few years later when everyone else’s skin was clearing up and glowy except for mine it started bothering me and I started feeling really self-concious about myself and I started being jealous about every girl that I came across with with clear skin which looking back at it now seems so silly since I can gurantee that every girl and even every person is self-consious about something in their looks that they would gladly change for with someone else.

I have tried probably all products that state to help acne, I tried eating healthy, not eating chocolate or sweets at all as some people say that it causes acne, had face treatments, saw doctors about it etc but nothing really helped to solve the problem long term and then comes the moment of desperation when you start thinking that it’ll never go away and you’ll always feel self-conscious about yourself but there’s nothing more wrong than thinking that as sometimes the problem can solve itself within few days. From my experience over all those years I found two major big factors that definitely had an effect on my skin and you’re probably not surprised to hear that those two are water and stress. We don’t really realise how important drinking 2 litres of water a day is and it’s not only to have perfect skin as it also increases energy and relives fatigue, flushes out toxins, boots immune system and many other benefits so what are you waiting for go and grab yourself a glass water! The other major factor is stress which is definitely much harder to avoid stress than to drink water as sometimes things happen in life which you can’t avoid which will cause you stress but if you can’t do anything about it then try not to stress about it, and yes I know it’s easier said than done. But try not to stress about trivial things in life like being late, dropping your phone or loosing things because most of them can be easily sorted and won’t matter in a week or two , so when something like that does happen just take a deep breath or listen to some music.

So for all acne suffers and everyone else feeling self conscious about themselves, I have one last piece of advice; love yourself! And I don’t mean it lightly literally love yourself, next time you look in the mirror be like ‘wow you look great today’ or write down a list of things that you like yourself. Because in this and age with everyone just showing just their altered, filtered, edited pictures it’s easy to start feeling low about yourself and start telling yourself that you’re not as good as other people.

Going Vegetarian

This is not going to be a guide or saying what is right or wrong but I thought that it would be a good idea to put together a post with answers for the most popular questions I get asked about going vegetarian. To summarise the last few months have been challenging but at the same time extremely rewarding.

Let’s start with the most common question, which is; why I went vegetarian. There isn’t a one simple complex answer to this question so if you do meet someone who’s vegetarian or even vegan don’t ask them why because I’m sure there isn’t only one reason behind it and it would take a long time to explain every one of them, but the general answer to that would be because we care about ourselves, about the planet and animals.

Next thing that I hear a lot is ‘so what do you eat now’ or ‘where do you get your proteins from’ and excuse me if I roll my eyes at this but the vegetarian diet consists of literally everything except for meat and poultry so asking that question makes you sound very closed minded if you can’t imagine any other food than meat. Honestly you don’t have to just eat lettuce everyday in fact I can’t remember the last time I had lettuce. Moving on surprise surprise chicken isn’t the only food that you can get your protein from for example edamame which contains an amazing 18g of protein in one cup, there’s also tofu, lentils, lima beans, peanuts or peanut butter, wild rice, chickpeas and the list goes on.

One of the myths is that you’re gonna have to give up all your favourite meals I mean pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, tacos, burgers, wraps all contain meat right? Wrong! You can still enjoy all of your favourite meals it just takes a bit more effort than before which is what it comes down to if you’re if you’re willing to put a little bit more effort into it and if you ever have a look at the veggie section in any supermarket there is lots of replacements for meat like Quorn or vegetable replacements. Another myth is that you’re going to spend much more money and it is much more expensive than a meat based diet.. Again not true! As vegetables are much cheaper than meat (and healthier), when going out for meals my meals are usually cheaper now and most importantly I’ve cut down on takeaways (McDonalds please make an edible veggie burger)  and make things myself instead.

Personally it always felt like the right decision for me to do as I never really enjoyed meat or the thought of eating or harming animals but it took me nearly 20 years to have to guts to go for it and you’re probably wondering why. My main concern was ‘what will people think’, like any big decision in life you worry how it’s going to impact your life and I didn’t want to be the awkward one on family dinners or social events but honestly if you feel like it’s the right decision for you then just go for it because if your family and friends really care about you then they will support your decision sooner or later and also you live for yourself not for your parents, friends or partner so do whatever feels right for you and makes you happy. I don’t judge meat eaters as it’s everyones personal choice but I require the same back, nevertheless it does make me happy when my family or boyfriend have veggie meals with me as I feel like they support my decision.

People say that it’s pointless because it won’t it change anything anyway because it’s never gonna happen for everyone in the world to go vegetarian and I am aware of that but the less meat is brought the lower the demand will be and honestly I would be happy with that as it would mean less unharmed animals, less pollution and more crops left for humans to eat which would finally lower world hunger.

First look for Spring/Summer’17

Welcome back! I could write a thousand reasons why I haven’t posted in the last few months, but it doesn’t matter and all that matters is that I’ll be back for good for those who like reading my posts for the written part or those who just like having a look at the pictures. I have the next few posts planned but I always welcome any ideas and suggestions from you guys about what you would like to read about here!

Going back to the post topic; I present you the first spring outfit (I probably took this on the only sunny day last week!). My favourite season, spring carries so many outfit possibilities. I usually show you outfits that I normally wear everyday and this is probably my favourite spring everyday outfit as this dress is so easy to dress down with trainers and an denim jacket or up with some lace up heels and an blazer, things that have many styling possibilities especially if you’re on a budget and can’t afford to buy something new each time further more a design like this is always ‘in, stripes are a classic that make a comeback every season especially in baby blue. To be honest each brand in this outfit is timeless, Levis, Converse and Abercrombie and all brands that have stuck around for years and make clothing that you can wear for years not for a season.

Let’s talk: Getting out of your comfort zone & self-motivation

If someone told me one year ago that I will enjoy going to the gym a few times a week I would laugh in their face and it’s not because I don’t like being active because I was always active, I used to do gymnastics, ice skate, work out at home and go running a few times a week but the word gym just gave me the shivers for many reason; my main form of defence was saying that it’s just not for me because I’m not a gym person and also I had this image of everyone there being super fit and judging me that I’m not which obviously I couldn’t be more wrong about.

At the time that I joined I was in a bad place in my life, most of my friends went to uni while I took a gap year and I found it hard at first to find a routine for myself because it’s easy to just waste year and not really achieve anything so I thought that during the free time I have one of my goals will be to get the body I’ve always wanted but always had some excuse. Getting started is not easy; every time a slight inconvenience would happen, something didn’t go right or I got something wrong I felt like giving up but I didn’t and the skill of not giving up was also transformed into other areas of my life without realizing. At first my only motivation that made me go was looking better and getting a better physique but before I noticed any changes on the outside I noticed changes on the inside; a much more positive outlook on the world, my sleeping pattern got much better since I usually go in the evenings and when I come back most of the time I fall asleep straight away, my mood swings stopped and I could go on like this for a while but you get the idea.

In those few months that I’ve been going for there were many occasions when I was tired and I would rather stay in bed and watch something and binge eat ice cream especially if it’s cold or raining because that’s much easier to do, but the easy way in life doesn’t lead you anywhere and as someone once said summer bodies are made in winter so if you want to look good in summer start now not in May. But every time I feel like not going I think of where I can be if I don’t give up, of how far I’ve come and about those people who are waiting for me to give up, I’m not saying that these reasons will suddenly motivate everyone to go but that’s just what personally keeps me going furthermore after some time you’ll get into a routine and you’ll create discipline for yourself to self motivate yourself as there won’t be always someone around to motivate you when you need it so you have to do it yourself and it’s one of the most important skills to have if you want to achieve anything as a freelancer or a business person and you need to be your own boss then your career or business will depend on you being able to self motivate yourself and discipline yourself into doing things even when you don’t exactly feel like doing them.

So now you’re probably wondering how does getting out of your comfort zone come into this? Well for me the idea of working out in front of people was terrifying,I felt insecure about myself and I thought that everyone will judge me so if you feel the same way as I did then let me tell you; people of different shapes, sizes and ages go there for different reasons and no one will judge you as you’re a step further than most people because you’re working on yourself. So my advice is concentrate on what you’re working on and ignore other people and ladies don’t be afraid to go into the weights area even if you are the only female there because most likely 90% of people there will be happy to help.

New years resolutions

First of January; fresh start and a great moment to think of the things you want to accomplish this year. Writing down a list of things you potentially want to do or change in yourself is the easy part; the question is how do you stick to it throughout the whole year not just till mid of January and then go back to your old habits. First of all be realistic in your resolutions, it’s  important to dream big and aim high but there is absolutely no point in saying you’re going to go to the gym 6 times a week for example if you know you don’t have the time or energy to do it so instead for the first two weeks go 3 times a week to get yourself into a routine because slow long-term changes are better than sudden changes which you will give up on within a month and this applies to all sorts of resolutions not just gym related. So whatever it is you want to do take it small step at a time and don’t get discourged if something doesn’t work out the way you want to at first.

Second of all throughout the year you’re going to want to give up,but giving up isn’t an option and that’s what you have to tell yourself and whenever you’re gonna feel like giving up think of where you can be at the end of this year if you don’t give up, and how amazing it’s going to feel to say I’ve accomplished this or that. Futhermore a good motivation for not giving up is thinking about those people who are waiting for you to give up. There’s no better feeling than proving people wrong who don’t believe in you.

My final advice is; just go for it whatever it is you want to do, I know that this sounds like such a cliche but if you can dream it you can do it. If I had to narrow down to just one thing that I learned in 2016, it would be that everything is possible and that you never know what life has in store for you so don’t ever lose hope. Have an amazing year guys and I hope you’ll stay for the journey of my blog with me this year!

Season Trend: Grey & Pastel Pink

First of all hello to all my lovely readers and second of all I want to apologise for the lack of posts in the last month; what can I say life got in the way but I won’t let that happen again. It took me three tries to take these pictures due circumstances that were not under my control but I didn’t give up because I was determined to show you guys this outfit especially that I know there were people waiting for it which is really lovely and motivating for me. I really wanted to show this outfit to show that just because it’s winter it doesn’t mean we have to wear dark and gloomy colours all the time and that pastel colours do work in winter as well, because the jacket is quite bright and it makes the whole outfit I chose to go for toned down colours in everything else and also I’m obsessed recently with the combination of pastel pink and grey. Also a tip for girls; this is my second pair of heels from Public Desire and they are so comfy that I could wear them all day so if you’re looking for a pair for the party season that’s the place I would recommend because they’re really affordable as well and have always have great promotions on!

As this is my last post before Christmas I would like to wish you all a wonderful time with your families during that special time, try to for those couple of days concentrate on what’s really important and put your phones down.

Love Lola

Casual Autumn Look

The leather jacket and blue jeans combo is my fave for every season, this outfit is completed by two trends; a velvet bag which is a must have for this season and a layered top which both were bargains. Recently I’ve been lucky with finding bargains and this designer bag was purchased for only £14,99 in Tkmaxx and the top in Zara for £15.99 which for Zara is quite cheap, I don’t make a secret out of the prices because I want to show that you really don’t need a lot of money to dress well! There were a few other alternatives which I was taking into consideration for this outfit; I think that leather pants and black stiletto heels would make an great more elegant alternative or if you like playing around with fashion black jeans, small red leather bag and red stiletto heels would look great.

Season Trend: Burgundy

I couldn’t wait to do an outfit like this; this is my go to autumn outfit. For the past few seasons I have been obsessed with burgundy but I always try to keep a balance as you can see in those outfits and I don’t go with more than 3 pieces in the same colour. Like I’ve said before in posts all you need is an ‘base’ for an outfit and my base in this case is the hat, bag and shoes which I can use to style in many different ways. In my opinion in every outfit there is an element to it that makes it ‘whole’ in this case it was the string choker which is beautifully handmade from Niki and you can check this and all her other chokers on her instagram here and if you quote ‘SIMPLYBYLOLA’ you will get one and the other half price! dsc_0027dsc_0034dsc_0016dsc_0002dsc_0057dsc_0067dsc_0065dsc_0041dsc_0083dsc_0116dsc_0045
