Hi I’m back, it’s been a while. I’ve cut my hair since my last post and also there has been a global pandemic. Before I start posting regular content, I thought I’d say a few words about the last year because that’s how long it’s been since I last posted.
For those that are new to my blog; hi I’m Lola! I started this blog back in 2016, with the intentions to share all my fave things fashion and beauty related but as I grew older the topics that I wanted to write about changed. I have previously written about the effects of fast fashion on our planet, dating in the digital era and why sometimes we all need a digital detox . However much I still love fashion and beauty; these days I like writing about more informative topics.
Right so; what I’ve been up to? At the beginning of this year I got a job as a marketing assistant, which unfortunately I didn’t get the full experience of as a big part of my job was events which were all cancelled a few weeks into starting my job. It was a really scary and uncertain time to be starting a job in retail, as it literally felt like the world was crashing down outside and I just had to keep calm and carry on. Fast-forward to April and I was sent on furlough, which I am really grateful for but it was definitely not a holiday unless you count sitting at home and wondering if you will have a job to go back to as a holiday. Yeah didn’t think so.
I have also started volunteering at my local food bank in February/March, it’s something that I wanted to do for a long time but never had the time to do it. Once I got the job I wanted, I could prioritise giving back to others. When I got sent on furlough, I offered my help to the food bank as their demand increased dramatically. My help went beyond volunteering in the actual food bank, I also set up a Amazon wish list with donations which people could purchase and they got delivered to my house. It was honestly the most rewarding thing that I’ve done in my life, and I’m getting emotional just thinking about the kindness of strangers from the internet that I’ve come across. In the space of 4 months I did more or less 7 drop offs of donations, each drop off consisted of my car being packed to the max. Maybe it’s true that everything happens for a reason, as me being furloughed helped a lot of people during a very difficult time.
What am I doing now? Unfortunately my contract didn’t get extended at my job, which didn’t come as a surprise in the current circumstances. I will be concentrating on creating content for my blog, doing courses to learn more about digital marketing and volunteering for the foreseeable future until I find a new job.

I think it’s wonderful that you used your time “off” the way you did. Volunteering, helping with donations, etc. It sounds like you learned so much in this season, despite the challenges you faced as well. That’s amazing. I look forward to more blog content from you now. I love your outfit here and I can’t wait to hear more about your life!

Thank you so much, for your lovely comment! I certainly have learnt a lot this year, especially not to give up because it always gets better. More content coming soon, I promise!!
I’m glad it’s not just me who felt like furlough wasn’t a holiday (I work in digital marketing in the live entertainment sector)! But so glad you found something to do that feels like it’s so fulfilling! Also, love your blog!

Glad you’re getting back into blogging again, I should really consider getting back to mine to help me have some kind of normality & help me with a steady routine.
You did an amazing job with the food bank work throughout 2020 and should be really proud of yourself for the amounts you were able to collect in donations too. There are a tonne of wonderful people in the world & you have shone brightly in peoples lives during the times people needed it most. You are a beautiful human.
Thank you for your support x
Much Love
