Liquid lipsticks – hit or miss?

I love liquid lipsticks but before I got my first one I had a hard time choosing which brand to go for because there’s so many brands out there offering a variety of choices. To make the choice easier for you I have tested out a few brands and will tell you my thoughts about NYX Cosmetics,Kylie Cosmetics and Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Let’s start with the one that is the best value for money aka NYX Lingerie; for only £6.50 you get an amazing liquid lipstick which doesn’t dry your lips and has an amazing formula nevertheless the con I personally experienced with it was that it dries off quite quickly especially if you’re eating and drinking you’re gonna experience that you need to reapply it every hour or so which can be a nuisance if you’re out somewhere. Furthermore the lingerie collection only consists of 12 shades, there is always the soft matte ones but to be honest I’m not a fan of those colours so I hope more colours of the Lingerie range become available in the UK soon! My verdict for that price is definitely a HIT.

Next up Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipsticks on which there is a lot of mixed opinions online. I personally love them and have nearly used up the two shades that I have which are Maliboo and Candy K which are the perfect shades of nude (Candy K is more of a pinkey nude). They smell lovely like a vanilla milkshake. The formula doesn’t dry your lips out and it stays on well but there is a big con especially for buyers from outside of the US as the price can be more than a little off putting when you consider the price of the product, the shipping and the custom charges. I am not sure if I would repurchase those again so this one will unfortunately have to be a MISS until Kylie starts stocking her products in the UK!

For anyone that knows me, knows that I am a big fan of Anastasia products and probably all of her products are on my wish list well maybe except for the liquid lipsticks yep you read it right. This liquid lipstick was a product I was really looking forward to using but to my disappointment, maybe my expectations were too high? The shade that I got was way too dark for me and my lips felt really dry straight away and topping it up was a big mistake as it made it start peeling off – not a nice look trust me. I really hope that they have improved their formula on the latest range of the liquid lipsticks that have come out. Sorry Anastasia but this one will have to be a MISS.

I hope you found this post useful and if you did please give it a like and share and don’t forget to follow my blog which is on the right hand side!

How to spot a fake vs real Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade?

Don’t we all love a bargain? But sometimes we need to be careful when we find a bargain and that’s when it comes to buying make-up, as cheap make-up can mean fake make-up! I’ve purchased this dip brow pomade from a second hand website and although it was advised as genuine and on the pictures it looked completely real, it wasn’t until I got it that I noticed that something was off.. for example the shade stated to be dark brown but it looked completely different to what I remember that it used to be in my previous one furthermore the logo on the lid started rubbing off.

I’ve purchased another one and this time from a website I knew it will be 100% genuine and here are the differences I found between them so next time if you’re purchasing something you’re not sure about double-check before hand and you’ll know what to look out for!

On the original packaging the writing is bolder and bigger than on the fake.

This is where you can really tell the difference as the fake one is all smooth underneath whereas the real one has a gritted bottom and the labels are completely different.

Here you can see how much the shades differ even though they both should be ‘dark brown’. The texture of these was completely different too as the original dip brow pomade is waterproof and will stay on without smudging for the whole day whereas the fake one smudged really easily!

The logo on the top lid won’t ever rub off no matter how long you’ve had it for whereas the logo on the fake one rubbed off within a few days and it’s a slightly different shade as well.

I didn’t receive the fake one in a packaging (which should of rang alarm bells) but this is just to show you how the real packaging should look like.

If you’re planning to purchase a high end beauty product make sure to do it from a genuine site or if you’re not sure about the website then have a look on the internet first to see how a fake looks like as there’s probably plenty off pictures to compare other products as well. Believe me it’s better to pay a bit more and have the peace of mind that you’re using safe and genuine products than a fake which to be honest you can’t be ever sure what was used in it.

From now on I will try to post every Wednesday and Sunday, not just about beauty but about various of different topics. If you have any suggestions on what you would like me to write about, like I said it doesn’t have to be beauty or fashion related then you can contact me through the contact page or my social media accounts. Furthermore if you a photographer in London or area or you know someone who is one then drop me a message!

Why is NYX Cosmetics the new ‘it’ brand!

_20161019_181249

NYX Cosmetics is every make up obsessed girls dream – high end quality at affordable prices. Even though NYX was founded in 1999 (yep!) by Toni Ko who’s goal was to make a great quality product for everyone to afford; only recently everyone went crazy about NYX as few years back I doubt many people heard about the brand but right now NYX is going like storm with astonishing nearly 9 million followers on Instagram, new product launches often and NYX being available in most Boots shops in the UK now (finally)!

The first product by NYX that I tried was the Soft Matte Lip Cream; I was on a hunt for a liquid lipstick and I stumbled across the soft matte range on Feelunique, and the price of just £5.50 convinced me to try it. When I did try it I was impressed that the formula didn’t make my lips feel dry at all which was my worry about liquid lipsticks; on the downside to keep your lips looking good it needs to be reapplied every 1-2 hours hence why I used it up within two months nevertheless for that price it’s still good quality.

The next thing that I purchased was the gel liner as I always wanted to compare it to a pen liner and to be honest it’s probably my least favourite product out of all of them and my number one eyeliner is still the L’oreal Superliner which makes doing my wing eye super quick and easy.

The eye shadow base which I purchased when I got more into make-up and realised that primer/base is a very important part of the make-up as it will help it last longer and honestly it’s the best. I don’t use any high-end eye shadows so the formula isn’t the best and they’re not very pigmented but nevertheless with this base they stay on all day without smudging or creasing; it’s definitely one of those products that I will be re buying when it’s finished.

Next up is my favourite liquid lipstick; NYX Lingerie in Push Up is the most perfect nude shade ever that I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of and I’m trying to get my hands on the rest of the Lingerie collection as I personally found the formula of it even better than Soft Matte and it definitely stays on longer but Soft Matte has the advantage of being part of a wider range of shades to choose from.

The last few products I’ve brought on my lunch break (oops) in the newly opened Boots concession next to me. The product I was most curious to try was the Tame and Frame brow pomade to see how it compares to the Anastasia Beverly Hills one which I currently use and to be honest I would say it’s a great dupe for it if you don’t want to spend £15; the ABH dipbrow pomade in medium brown is the exact same shade as the NYX expresso one as when I used one on one side and one on the other you wouldn’t tell the difference between them. The only downside of the NYX one is that you need to use more product to get the same effect as you would with ABH when using less product. I started the testing the finishing powder by dropping it.. twice! So when I finally got round using it, I was a bit disappointed with this product as I don’t think it made any difference to the final look of my make up and the same goes to the matte blotting paper. They’re very thin so you have to use lots compared to some other ones I’ve used from a different brand which were thicker and one or two were enough.

This is only a very small part of the NYX Cosmetics range but if you’ve never tried any of their products I hope it helps you decide whether you want to try some products to summarise it’s a bit of a hit and miss with the products as some are better than others but now you know which ones are worth buying according to me!

I hope you enjoyed it and if you did make sure to also check out 5 high end beauty products;are they worth buying or not?

5 high end beauty products;are they worth buying or not?

Whenever I see a make up product I like or want to try out I look for reviews to make sure that I’m not wasting my money especially when it comes to high end products. We see these products everywhere, every make up addict has definitely at least one picture of these products on her instagram! These brands definitely know how to make a hype around their products, but the question is; is the hype worth it?
I’ll start with the product that I had the longest for and that is:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade
Before using this I used a cheap drugstore one which after a long day would end up smudging or fading. After discovering the ABH dipbrow I haven’t experienced a bad eyebrow days as it stays on from the morning right till the evening and the application is wonderful too thanks to the smooth creamy texture. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a new product for their brows! I can promise you that, you will not regret it! Furthermore ABH offers a wide range of different shades so however light or dark your skin and hair are I’m sure you’ll find one for yourself and also the price is considerably cheap compared to the high end brow products.
They are available on Beauty Bay and Cult Beauty.

The Balm Mary-Lou Illuminator
I have yet to try many more amazing highlighters and illuminators, ever since I’ve started using this one; my make up doesn’t feel finished without it. A good highlight can make or break a make up look depending where it is placed and the amount used as we don’t want it to be barely visible or too much and ending up looking greasy! Anyway going back to the product Mary-Lou is a great everyday illuminator, if you’re looking for just a soft glow for everyday looks then this is definitely a product for you, but I’m afraid that if you’re going for a very glowy look then this product might disappoint you! I will probably buy it again while being on a hunt for a stronger one.
I have purchased mine on Feelunique.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick
When I got this product for my birthday; I couldn’t wait to try it straight away as it was on my wish list for ages! It stayed on throughout the whole night, even though I had to reapply it a few times. A big positive of the ABH liquid lipsticks is the wide range of colours available, which is also a downside because when you’re trying to choose one or two it can be quite difficult! The only downside to the actual liquid lipsticks would be the texture that definitely makes me miss the times of traditional lipsticks, after a few hours your lips can start feeling very dry. Before deciding to get any more of the colours I will probably test a few other liquid lipsticks seeing as there’s so many out there and compare them and definitely let you know which one is worth buying and which one isn’t!
Purchased on official Anastasia Beverly Hills website.

Urban Decay Setting Spray
_20160720_200810
The hottest day of the year was probably the best time to test the effectiveness of this product. I had this product for a while now but I haven’t got round to using it until now, I only got the small 30ml bottle to test how well it works. Let me tell you this;while others were complaining about their make up melting in the heat; mine stayed perfectly in place (to an extend of course)! It’s defiantly one of those ‘must have’ products that every woman should have in her make up bag especially at the price of £9 for a small bottle which honestly will probably last me a long time as I only use it before going out or on very hot days and both of those cases don’t happen often.
Purchased on Feelunique.

Benefit They’re Real Mascara
_20160720_200937
Benefit please forgive me, I love you but and this is the moment where you’re like oh no there’s a but. After reading lots of positive reviews I’ve decided to purchase the sample version of they’re real mascara and it was nothing like I expected it to be! After using it my eyelashes looked all stuck together rather than giving me the false eyelashes effect, during the day the mascara crumpled down leaving an mess under my eyes and at the end of the day the mascara was terribly difficult to remove! Nevertheless we all make mistakes and I will not be put off from Benefit make up because of this experience but I definitely don’t recommend They’re Real Mascara.
